Tournaments

Chess-Ed. hosts a number of different junior tournaments throughout the year. Tournaments are a great way for juniors to learn competition rules, etiquette, to make new chess friends and to put all their skills into practise.

On behalf of Chess Victoria, the state’s official chess organising body, we are running a number of interschool tournaments this year. These act as qualifiers for the State finals and semi-finals tournaments and are a school’s starting point on the path to the National Championships.

This year the Chess Victoria Semi-Finals and Finals tournaments will be held from Monday 21st October until Friday 25th October. Each semi-final will have 7 rounds where the players have 15 minutes each on the clock. Entry fee is $20 per player. Fees and confirmation of player participation should be done by October 16th.

Princes Hill Primary School is due to play on Monday 21st October at St. Bridget's Primary School (44 Sweyn Street, Balwyn North) from 9:30am to approximately 3:00pm.

Moonee Ponds Primary School is due to play on Wednesday 23rd October at St. Bridget's Primary School (44 Sweyn Street, Balwyn North) from 9:30am to approximately 3:00pm.

Flemington Primary School, St. John Bosco's Primary School, Clifton Hill Primary School and Spensley Street Primary School are due to play on Friday October 25th at Marcellin College (160 Bulleen Road, Bulleen) from 9:30am to approximately 3:00pm.

The top teams will qualify for the Victorian Primary Schools Grand Final (no entry fee) which is held on 6th November.
