Tournaments

Chess-Ed. hosts a number of different junior tournaments throughout the year. Tournaments are a great way for juniors to learn competition rules, etiquette, to make new chess friends and to put all their skills into practise.

On behalf of Chess Victoria, the state’s official chess organising body, we are running a number of interschool tournaments this year. These act as qualifiers for the State finals and semi-finals tournaments and are a school’s starting point on the path to the National Championships.

This year the Semi-Final series will commence on Monday 22nd October and finish on Tuesday 30th October.

It is expected that qualifiers from the Interschool tournaments at Flemington PS and Moonee Ponds PS will play in the Semi-Final (entry fee will be $20 per player) on Friday October 26 from 9:30am – 2:30pm at Marcellin College, 160 Bulleen Rd, Bulleen VIC . This is a 7 round Swiss System tournament where the top teams qualify for the Victorian State Grand Final.

More details can be found at the Chess Victoria website.
